An uncontested divorce is a situation where both spouses agree to end their marriage and also agree on key issues such as division of assets, child custody, child support, and alimony (spousal support) without the need for court intervention or a trial. In other words, in an uncontested divorce, the spouses are able to reach a mutual agreement on all relevant issues related to their divorce without any major disagreements.
Because uncontested divorces typically involve less conflict and legal proceedings, they tend to be simpler, quicker, and less expensive than contested divorces, where the spouses are unable to reach an agreement and the court may need to intervene to make decisions on their behalf.
